CSK is a franchise cricket club that is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. They are part of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was established in 2008 and the team plays games at home in the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The team is controlled by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd and India Cements is the major stakeholder. The team was subject to two years of suspension from the IPL from July 2015, because of its owner’s involvement in the 2013 IPL betting dispute and took the trophy in their return season in the year 2018.

 

 

The team is helmed by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and is directed by Stephen Fleming. CSK are currently the champions and have been crowned champions in this title in the 2021 IPL season. The team was formed in January of 2022. CSK made India’s debut unicorn sports business.

History

 

September 2007, in September 2007, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the formation of the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 competition that will begin in 2008. In January 2008 the BCCI revealed the new owners of eight franchises based in cities. Chennai was one of them. Chennai franchise sold off to India Cements for $91 million which makes it the fourth-highest priced club in the world, behind Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. 7. The former ICC Chairperson N. Srinivasan was the principal owner of Chennai Super Kings, through his role as vice-chairman and the managing director for India Cements Ltd. It was transferred over to another company called Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd. Following it was decided that the Supreme Court of India struck down the controversial amendment of the BCCI constitution’s clause 6.2.4 which allowed board members to hold a commercial interest concerning the IPL and the Champions League Twenty20 on 22 January 2015. 2008: Chennai Super Kings had many famous players, including Michael Hussey and Muttiah Muralitharan, and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The team reached the finals but were lost in the finals by Rajasthan Royals.

 

2009. The Chennai Super Kings failed to reach the finals because they suffered a loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the semifinals. They performed their best during the season.

 

2010 Chennai Super Kings: Chennai Super Kings won their first title in 2010 when they defeated Mumbai Indians to win the match.

 

2011. The squad kept its title, and also won the title twice and won two IPL tournaments in succession as the team became the very first to achieve this feat.

 

2012: The Super Kings reached the finals again, however they were thwarted by the Kolkata Knight Riders who won their first championship that season.

 

2013: Another trip to the final CSK, the CSK were held up the second time around by Mumbai Indians who claimed their first IPL title.

 

2014 After a long period in the CLT20, Chennai Super Kings finally won the tournament. Chennai Super Kings failed to get to the finals, however, they enjoyed a fantastic time in CLT20.

 

2015: Again the Chennai Super Kings lost a final against Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians.

 

2016 The team was banned.

 

2017 The team was banned.

 

2018 The team was back in the league and claimed its third IPL title.

 

2019: Chennai Super Kings reached the finals but were unable to take home their fourth trophy.

 

2020 It was the very first IPL season that Chennai Super Kings were part of the team. Chennai Super Kings participated but were not able to make the playoffs.

 

2021: In 2021, the Chennai Super Kings added Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Cheteshwar Pujara MH Reddy KB Varma, as well as C Hari Nishaanth to their team.
